Clinics And Other Services

These are provided by the doctors and practice nurses. Please contact the receptionist who will advise you about the correct appointment.

Acupuncture

At times the practice has 3rd year acupuncture students from the University of Lincoln on a clinical placement. Please see one of the doctors for further information and a referral.

Smear tests

These are routinely performed by the practice nurses and the doctors. When making an appointment please ask the receptionist for a fifteen minutes slot. Should you have not recieved your test result within 4 - 6 weeks please contact the medical centre.

Contraceptive advice

Contraceptive care is given by the Doctors, Nurse Practitioner and Practice Nurses.

Emergency contraception

The emergency contraception service is available from the Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses and the Doctors.

IUCD (coil fitting)

The delivery of this service is to be arranged with your Doctor.

Maternity Care

Antenatal and postnatal care is to be given by the doctors. To arrange an appointment with the community midwife at Goole and District Hospital please ring 01405 720720 extension 4079. The Midwife will offer advice and guidance on services available.

Minor Surgery

This isoffered by arrangement with your doctor

Child Immunisation / Child health surveillance

Performed at Well Baby Clinic on Wednesday afternoons 2 - 3pm

Non NHS Services

From time to time you may request a letter, report or certificate from your doctor which is outside the core medical services provided by the NHS. Similarly you may also request a medical service or examination which is outside the core NHS services. You will be asked to pay for these services as they are private services. A list of fees is available on request from reception.

The nursing team have specific responsibillities for the management of conditions such as dibetes, Asthma and COPD, high blood pressure, stroke and heart problems.

If you are being seen for one of these conditions you will be invited to attend a surgery consultation by letter.

There are no specific clinic times set aside for these reviews as we aim to be as flexible as possible in arranging an appointment time to meet your needs.

Areas of Management:

Liz McLachlan - Diabetes
Sally Besch - Asthma, COPD and other heart conditions
Jan Hepworth - High blood pressure, stroke and Heart problems

If, however you have more than one condition as far as it is possible your management will be undertaken by one named nurse.

If you have diabetes you should see Liz, if you have asthma, COPD or a chest condition you should see Sall, irrespective of your other conditions.

Cryo Surgery Every other Monday 3 - 4pm
Chiropody Clinic Tuesday and Friday 1 - 4pm
Child health clinic Wednesday 2 - 4pm
Dietitian Once a month on a Tuesday 1 - 3pm and a Thursday 1 - 3pm
Please see your usual doctor to request a referral.

Counsellor

Counselling services are available at the medical centre. Please see your doctor.

Osteopath

Tuesday morning 8.30 - 12:30pm. to arrange an appointment please contact Paul Cairns on 07736 430248. This is a private service and a fee will be charged.

Medical examinations:

Insurance, Taxi, HGV, Pre-employment, Motor Sports, Diving medicals etc are performed at the Medical Centre. Ask at reception for details and cost.

Walking Club

Meeting at the Shire Hall in Howden on a Thursday afternoon at 1: 45pm. Contact one of the Practice Nurses for details.
